Each year, the editors of ENR develop a list of the top newsmakers in construction, whittling it down to just 25 industry changemakers from across the country. This year, ҹɫ��Ƶ is honored that ENR selected Andrew Hallett, ҹɫ��Ƶ Senior Project Manager, to be featured on its Top 25 Newsmakers list.

“Andrew has led teams on some of our company’s most challenging projects,” says Aric Dreher, Assistant General Manager for ҹɫ��Ƶ’s Infrastructure Operations. “His profound technical understanding of the work coupled with his can-do leadership style has resulted in success in every endeavor.”

Through this honor, Andrew joins an elite list of innovators and achievers. However, he gives much of the credit to the dedicated team who was honored in 2022 by ENR and Associated Builders and Contractors for our Super Flood Basin project. The project included completing two new onsite electrical substations, installation of a new 50-foot dry dock access tunnel, installation of thousands of linear feet of new utilities and duct banks, installing three 70-foot-diameter cofferdams, mobilizing and operating a floating concrete batch plant to place 34,000 cubic yards of concrete, dredging 15,000 cubic yards of overburden, completing underwater explosive demolition and removal of 15,000 cubic yards of bedrock, installing 200 micro pile, installation of 5,000 linear feet of new crane/train rail, installation of 1,200 linear feet of sheet pile, installation of ten 8-foot-diameter drilled shafts and precasting the 5,000-ton entrance structure on a barge offsite at our Portland, Maine facility and transporting it to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. “Everybody knew what they needed to do in all regards—from the tugboat operators to the craft out on site—and it went off like clockwork,” Andrew told ENR.

Andrew began at ҹɫ��Ƶ as a civil engineering intern in the summer of 2006 on the Penobscot Narrows Bridge project when he was studying civil engineering at the University of Maine in Orono. He proceeded to return for two more summer internships before he was hired on full-time as an estimator working at ҹɫ��Ƶ’s corporate headquarters in Pittsfield, Maine. In January 2011, Andrew became a project engineer on ҹɫ��Ƶ’s Howland Bridge Design/Build project in Howland, Maine. Over the next several years, he took on increasing responsibilities, becoming a senior project engineer, licensed professional engineer, project superintendent, and project manager. Today, he holds the responsibility of senior project manager overseeing the operations at our modular facility in Brewer, Maine, for the P-381 Multi-Mission Dry Dock #1 project, constructing 27 4,000-ton concrete monoliths for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard’s Dry Dock #1 expansion. During this time, Andrew has also received a written recognition of Exemplary Leadership from the Department of the Navy, Officer in Charge of Construction (OICC).
