Scope of Work
Working under an EPC contract, ҹɫÊÓƵ constructed a new five (5) circuit 34.5 kV substation including site development and above and below-grade construction. Additionally, ҹɫÊÓƵ performed upgrades to the existing 115 kV substation, which included removal of an existing 115/34.5 kV transformer, and replacement of two 115/34.5 kV transformers with all associated equipment and P&C installations.
Project Details
- Replaced two (2) 115/34.5 kV transformers and associated equipment
- Installed two (2) capacitor banks and circuit switchers
- Installed CMU block control house
- Installed seven (7) 34.5 kV circuit breakers
- Installed twelve (12) 34.5 kV disconnect switches
- Pulled and terminated 93,180 linear feet of power and control cable
- Fabricated and installed 3,075 linear feet of rigid and flexible bus/taps
- Demolished the existing five (5) circuit 34.5 kV substation
- Demolished the protection and control systems for all distribution
Lean, Innovative and Unique Project Solutions
The project team utilized vacuum excavation and air spade during the below-grade construction in the energized 115 kV substation to expose the direct burial cable from previous installations to confirm no accidental contact. Additionally, project coordination and scheduling commitments were highly critical for the project with numerous parties involved with the execution of the cut-overs. As a result of the detailed project coordination, all outages and milestones were achieved.
